I teach Tuba, Euphonium, at any level and beginners on Bass Guitar and Acoustic Guitar. I also teach music theory as a supplemental tutor for those taking it elsewhere or for those looking to learn the subject on their own.
Every person learns differently. My teaching style adapts to best meet the needs of my students. When I take on a new student we assess skills and areas for improvement, the student's goals and the standards for their grade level or experience and create an individualized plan to achieve their goals and promote a life long love and appreciation for music even if they choose not to continue in life towards a career in music. In general I have a laid back collaborative approach to my teaching and like to work together to help students solve problems or overcome the challenges that stand between them and their goals.
I require each of my students to have a chromatic tuner, a metronome, and a music stand. I find these to be the most essential tools for practicing and learning. Other supplementary materials such as method books, solo repertoire, etc. will be provided or discussed well in advance of their necessity.
